Because I’ve been working on Hannibal essays lately, I’ve decided to share the playlist I made, inspired by the Hannibal TV show. My one rule was that I couldn’t include musical soundtracks, which means the obvious Sweeney Todd inclusion of “A Little Priest” isn’t on the list. Every time I listen to this one, I’m brought right back into the show. It’s great. How apropos some of these are is scary.
I’ll bet you didn’t know he warrants two Lady Gaga songs, though.
“Monster” – Lady Gaga
“March of Mephisto” – Kamelot
“Lonesome Hunter” – Timber Timbre
“The Devil Within (Piano Version)” – Digital Daggers
“Gravity” – Sara Bareilles
“bury a friend” – Billie Eilish
“Among Us” – Susanne Sundfør
“Swine” – Lady Gaga
“Devil Man” – Cindy Morgan
“Just Give Me a Reason (feat. Nate Ruess)” – P!ink
“Hunter’s Kiss” – Rasputina
“Casualty” – Snake River Conspiracy
“Chrysalis – The Last Breath” – Delain
“Tonight You Belong to Me (feat. Lola Rhodes)” – Joseph William Morgan
“Love and War” – Fleurie
“Masters of Destiny” – Delain
“My Medea” – Vienna Teng

One of my personal little joys is moving music I love into playlists for the books I’m working on. It helps me focus my themes and feel all the feels that music can make a person feel more effortlessly than words on their own. My experience of books, mine and other people’s, is very cinematic, and soundtracks help supplement that experience for me, and I love sharing that playlist with anyone else, if they want to feel the feels with me.
